becoming a believer

God loves you and wants you to have a personal relationship with Him.

Most of the time people divide themselves into groups – good people and bad people. But God says that every person who has ever lived is a sinner, and that sin separates us from God. No matter how we might classify ourselves, this includes you and me. We are all sinners.

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:23

Many people are confused about the way to God.  Some think they will be punished or rewarded according to how good they are.  One may think they need to clean up their life before trying to come to God.  Others just cannot comprehend how Jesus could love so much when other people don’t seem to. But God does love you!  Our sins demand punishment – the punishment of death and separation from God. But, because of His love, God sent His only Son Jesus to die for our sins.

“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:8

Many people spend their lives trying to earn the approval of God by following rules, attending church services, or being a good person.  But, the only way to secure an eternal future in heaven is through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

GOD LOVES YOU
Because of God’s love for all persons, He desires that you have unbroken fellowship with Him.
(John 3:16; Ephesians 2:4-5)

YOU ARE A SINNER
We all are “sinners” in that we disobey God. Sin is choosing to go your own way and do your own thing as opposed to being obedient to God.  (Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:10)

SIN SEPARATES YOU FROM GOD
Sin forms a wall that prevents you from entering into unbroken fellowship with God.  As sinner, you can’t have fellowship with God and you are headed for an eternity that the Bible calls Hell.         (Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23)

YOU CAN’T SAVE YOURSELF

Some may think that through their good works they can overcome the sin between themselves and God. There’s nothing you can do to restore the broken relationship with God because you can’t earn God’s salvation.   (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Romans 4:4-5)

GOD SENT HIS SON JESUS

What you cannot do for yourself, Jesus Christ has done for you! Your sin is a barrier between you and God.  The Good News is that Jesus died on the cross for you and then rose from the dead to demonstrate that His payment was acceptable to God. By taking your punishment on Himself, Jesus made a way for a relationship with God.   (1 Peter 2:23; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 10:9)

YOU CAN RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST THROUGH FAITH
Faith is trusting and believing in what Jesus did for you rather than trusting your own efforts to restore fellowship with God. Faith is complete reliance on Christ to restore your relationship with God, allowing Him to live His life through you. Faith also involves repentance or sincere sorrow for sin and willingness to turn away from that sin.    (John 14:6; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10)

THROUGH PRAYER YOU CAN TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST

Admit to God that you are a sinner. Express sorrow or repentance for your sinfulness. Ask Him to forgive your sins. Invite Jesus into your heart and life as Savior and Lord and commit yourself to live for Him.

There is no more
