The 11th Annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards

The 11th Annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards (Local 706), were presented on Sunday evening February 18, 2024 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel was hosted by Melissa Peterman and presented by Ardell and Giovanni.

The evening started with a 4pm "Red Carpet" and Cocktail Reception, Banquet dinner at 6 pm, and the Awards Show at 730 pm.

The honoree awards were supposed to begin with Oscar- nominated actor Annette Bening, being honored with the Distinguished Artisan Award, however due to COVID, Diana Nyad, accepted the award on her behalf

Maestro, Saltburn, and Barbie were the big winners.

The Boulet Brothers (Swanthula Boulet & Dracmorda Boulet)

Ivana Primorac and the hair styling team of "Barbie" won best period hair styling and /or character hair styling.

"Maestro ", which was nominated for three awards, went home with two awards. Variety's Artisans Award winner Kazu Hiro revised Bradley Cooper into legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, working through multiple stages of makeup application to show a successive aging progression.

Best Contemporary Makeup in Film and Best Contemporary Hair Styling was awarded to "Saltburn" (Sian Miller, Laura Allen).

The Best Makeup in Daytime Television Game Show or Talk Show went to gorgeous and dramatic "The Boulet Brothers' Dragula" (Swanthula Boulet, Dracmorda Boulet).

The 2024 MUAHS Lifetime Achievement Award Makeup went to Kevin Haney, an Oscar and Emmy-winning makeup artist best known for his work on "Driving Miss Daisy", "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" and "Hocus Pocus 2''.

Ora T.Green, Emmy –nominated hair stylist known for her work on "Star Trek", "Nemesis, Blade", and "Good Times" received the Lifetime Achievement Award Hair Styling.

Michael Westmore was presented with the Vanguard Award for his work on "Rocky", "Star Trek" and "Raging Bull".

There was an inspiring musical performance "In Memoriam Tribute" by the lovely Angie Wells.

It was a wonderful "Red Carpet" evening filled with talented and accomplished artisans.
